Going Gung Ho for charity

On 3rd June, ten members of Results Fitness Medway will be completing the 5K Gung-Ho inflatable obstacle course which is taking place at Brands Hatch and raising money for Kent Sports Trust Foundation.

KSFT aim is to encourage participation, create positive health outcomes and provide opportunities for the Kent community to connect through sport.

At Results Fitness Medway, Carl Miller leads those that want to get into shape through structured classes which are designed to push every individual to their own personal goals.

Classes currently (due to summer months) take place at different outdoor locations in the Medway area.

Each member of Results Fitness Medway, ranging from the trainer Carl Miller, to the newest recruit, has their own personal journey through participation in sport and Carl is keen to help anyone get in shape:

“I pull from my own knowledge and past experiences to assist and guide my students to improve and change their lifestyle to reach their personal goals.”

“There are many elements to consider when trying to successfully lose weight, improve fitness or make lasting positive lifestyle changes.”

“I focus on a lifestyle change and by looking at the bigger picture which incorporates weight management. To witness a student making positive improvements on a weekly basis is what makes my job worthwhile.”

Having been training for a number of weeks, the ten strong team will line up alongside dozens of other competitors at Gung Ho, with Europe’s largest inflatable slide awaiting those taking part.

Many members take part in three classes a week which consists of high intensity interval training (HIIT), boxing fitness and an ultimate fat burning class.

By training and following a healthy eating programme the results are evident on all members who have consistently dropped weight and increased muscle mass every week.

It is not just the figures on the scales that show this but people are feeling better with improved body confidence and self-esteem.

On Wednesday 3rd May, local MP Rehman Chishti showed his support by attending a training session at Hempstead Recreation Park.

A special mention must go to Sarah Griffiths who has put a huge amount of effort into organising everything for the team to take part in Gung Ho.

Having signed the team up to take part in the thrilling 5km obstacle course in aid of Kent Sports Trust Foundation, Sarah explained why she does what she does:

“After sustaining a broken wrist and being advised I would never been able to return to training in martial arts like I had previously done, I struggled with depression & anxiety.”

“I started training with Results Fitness Medway in February 2017 after moving to the area. I have found the support and guidance from Carl and fellow students to be truly inspiring and I now regard many to be true friends.”

One person that’s really seen the benefits of training is Brad Hewitt. Having completed the London Marathon in 2013, Brad admits he let himself go, but now wants to get back on track:

“I started training with Carl and Results Fitness Medway in January 2017. It’s fair to say I had let myself go a bit and had really started to pile on the pounds.”

“I hardly did any exercise and ate and drank very poorly. After 4 months of training, I have now managed to lose almost 2 ½ stone, increased muscle mass and dropped over 10% body fat.”

“Carl has not just showed me how to look after myself, but also how to eat better and sustain these results.”

“The results speak for themselves for most of us. We now look a lot better and feel much better in ourselves as well as having met some great people along the way. This is just the start of our journey…”

Carl gives up a lot of his free time to run these classes to help everyone’s lifestyles and support them on their journeys.
