Unlucky Invicta midfielder Ronnie Dolan fractured an ankle just under an hour into Saturday’s 2-0 FA Trophy defeat at Woking leaving Folkestone without arguably their player of the season so far as they face league games at Whitehawk (tomorrow) and at home to Merstham this coming weekend.
Hopes of a repeat of the 12-goal epic from 1999 proved a long way off the mark, but while, once they had taken a two goal Woking never looked out of control of this FA Trophy tie at Kingfield, Folkestone still had a chance with the feeling that one goal might well lead to a second and a money-spinning replay at The Fullicks on Tuesday night.
Folkestone Invicta and their longer-suffering fans travel back almost 20 years on Saturday when the Kent club take on National League South Leaders Woking in the third round of the Buildbase Trophy at Kingfield.
