Whitehawk 0-0 Folkestone Invicta
Whitehawk 0-0 Folkestone Invicta

A wet, windy and miserable evening at Whitehawk’s Terrapura ground on the outskirts of Brighton saw Invicta playing against the conditions – and up a slope – in the opening half and coming under considerable pressure.

They were indebted to keeper Tim Roberts for their clean sheet at half-time, but it was a different tale after the interval when what chances Folkestone had largely again fell to Ade Yusuff who also found Hawks’ ex-Brentford, Canvey and Hendon keeper Melvin Minter in the kind form that he has shown against Invicta at the Fullicks Stadium in the past.

Folkestone were predictably short of numbers with Ronnie Dolan’s broken ankle suffered at Woking on Saturday adding to the loss of Johan Ter Horst and Sam Hasler, neither of whom made the trip this time with manager Neil Cugley and 40-birthday celebrating assistant boss Roland Edge reluctant to make any changes off the bench.

The hard-earned point does take them up to just one behind the three sides just above them in the table with this coming weekend’s visitors to the Fullicks Stadium, Merstham, a further two points behind, albeit from few games played.
