Addicks looking to avoid the drop

The latest odds on who will fill the remaining relegation spot from the Championship are as follows:

Doncaster 4/6

Birmingham 6/4

Millwall 9/1

Charlton 25/1

Blackpool 33/1

Doncaster’s one remaining game is at Leicester, with the Foxes firm favourites to round the season off in style by breaking through the 100 points barrier.

If Leicester do beat Doncaster, Birmingham would need to take a point from either Tuesday’s home game with Wigan, orSaturday’s trip to Bolton to survive on goal difference. Wigan do still need to win one of their last two games to ensure their play-off place, after slipping up against Blackpool on Saturday.

If Doncaster were to take a point off Leicester, the Addicks would be vulnerable if they lost to both Watford and Blackpool and conceded five or more goals in the process.

Millwall face Bournemouth at the Den on Saturday, with the Cherries now being out of the hunt for a play-off spot. Charlton fans will be hoping Yann Kermorgant continues his current good goal scoring form.

A draw would be a very useful result for the Addicks when Watford visit The Valley on Tuesday. It would mean that Birmingham, Doncaster and Millwall would all need wins to overhaul the Addicks. A win would guarantee Charlton’s safety, regardless of results on the final day.

A draw against the Addicks would guarantee Blackpool’s survival unless an unlikely combinastion of results – including Doncater winning by five clear goals at Leicester – occur.

Realistically, the third relegation spot looks to be between Birmingham and Doncaster. Rovers may yet end up rueing that rainy day in August when the match at The Valley was abandoned with them holding a 3-1 lead.

The Valley faithful will be hoping that the lingering relegation worries will be extinguished by beating Watford in the final home game of the season.

What a difference a year makes. Last season, Barnsley needed 55 points to survive, this time around, Doncaster could be safe with just 44.

Addicks youngsters pen new deals

Morgan Fox, who has deputised for Rhoys Wiggins in the last two games against Bolton and Sheffield Wednesday, has signed a deal that will keep him at The Valley until the summer of 2017.

Chelmsford born Fox will be 21 in September and has been capped at Under-21 level by Wales this season.

He played seven games on loan at Notts County earlier in the season and has waited patiently for his chance at The Valley.

Fox could have been bloodied last season, when both Wiggins and Cedric Evina were injured, but then manager, Chris Powell, opted to bring in Southampton’s left-footed centre-back, Dan Seaborne, as cover.

19-year-old, Dillon Phillips, agreed a two-year deal and has signed a contract that runs until the summer of 2016.

The Dagenham born stopper has made the occasional appearance on the bench recently but is still waiting to make his senior debut.

Nick Pope’s loan stint at York opened the door for Phillips during Yohann Thuram-Ulien’s absence.
