Coco Streets continued her streak of scoring at least a half-century in every Women’s Metro Bank One Day Cup match this Summer despite Kent Women falling to a 40-run defeat against Glamorgan, in the first ever match at the Beckenham Festival on Sunday.

Coco Streets made 89 and Elsa Barnfather hit a brilliant 70, but the hosts were unable to cope with an ever-steepening run rate. Chasing 355 they all out for 314 after 47.5 overs.
Megan McColl was unbeaten on 111, while Jeans made 110 as the visitors posted a daunting 354 for seven from their 50 overs.
Isabella James had Kent’s best figures with 3 for 68, but the hosts were left to rue a succession of dropped catches.
Glamorgan chose to bat but lost captain Lauren Parfitt in the fifth over when she was bowled for 2 by Sydney Gorham.
Bethan Ellis looked good for 26 until she was bowled by Isabella James, while Jeanes rode her luck. She was dropped on 26 off Izzy Cloke and again when on 48 off Megan Belt, allowing her to run two and bring up her half-century.
35 minutes were lost due to a rain delay, no overs were lost and when play resumed Isabella James took two wickets in two balls: she caught and bowled Megan Sturge for 21, before getting Beth Gammon caught behind for a golden duck.
Megan McColl survived the hat-trick ball by sweeping James for a single and Jeanes hit Amy Gordon back over her head for the four that took her to three figures, making her the first ever Beckenham Festival centurion.
Jeanes finally fell when Zeena Bilal had her caught in the deep by Kelly Castle but Megan McColl, who was dropped on 15, passed 50 when she drove Cloke for four.
Eve Jackson was run out by Amy Gordon and Rachel King for eight and Gemma Porter made 12 before Belt had her caught by Bilal.
Amy Wheeler was dropped on 31 and McColl reached 100 with two from Bilal before she was dropped on 109, off the same bowler, allowing the eight wicket duo to put on an unbroken stand of 93.
Amy Gordon was the first Kent batter to fall, bowled by Wheeler for 14, but Coco Streets passed 50 with a single off Porter. Nicole Reid missed a chance to get Streets off her own bowling when she was on 51, but Kate Cobb bowled Kelly Castle for 32.
Streets was dropped again on 79, but after taking a single Kent lost Maddie Blinkhorn-Jones to the very next ball, caught by Parfitt off Porter for 20.
When Bethan Ellis bowled Streets Kent’s chances deteriorated, but a century stand between Barnfather and Rachel King kept things interesting.
Jackson missed an easy chance to catch Elsa Barnfather off her own bowling when she was on 34 and in the same over McColl put down Rachel King.
Barnfather hit Jackson for successive sixes, then swept her for four to bring up her fifty and blasted two more maximums before she was bowled by Wheeler.
Rachel King was run out for 46 and Bilal went for 17, caught by Ellis off Cobb. Gorham was run by a direct hit from Porter of the very next ball and with Izzy Cloke unable to bat after sustaining an injury while bowling, Glamorgan wrapped up the win when James was caught by McColl of Cobb, with 13 balls remaining.
Kent Batter Coco Streets said “I think, obviously, Glamorgan are a seriously good side. We know they’re going up next year. So, we kind of knew we had it coming today and we really had to put on a good performance to make it a good game.”
“Obviously, they batted very well to get to the total they did, but we know it’s a good wicket here. We love playing at Beckenham and you’re never out of the game. So, yeah, like you said, I think we all really rallied together and to get really close in the end was such a good effort, especially from Elsa at the end.”
“I did work really hard over the winter and changed my technique quite a bit. Didn’t go towards, worked really hard and it’s really nice to see that it pays off, you know, when you put in the hours and stuff. So, no, very pleased.”
“I think just trying to back my process, back the hard work I put in, but no, very, very pleased.I think it was one of those, just now we’re all kind of like, gosh, the next game is Lords, which is crazy.”
“I think we’re just so excited. One, for like a switch competition. It’d be really nice just to play some T20 cricket now, I think.”
“It feels like we’ve well in the midst of 50 over stuff, so it’d be nice to have a change. But yeah, playing at Lords would just be crazy. I’m not sure anyone has actually out of our lot, so maybe a couple. But no, everyone literally cannot wait. So, yeah, should be a really, really good occasion.”
