Once again, it was Kyle Ryde versus Scott Redding in the British Superbike Championship at Brands Hatch last weekend.

It was as you were at the end of the weekend with Ryde winning the first two races of the weekend and Redding winning the final race of the weekend.

Max Cook had another excellent weekend taking a trio of third place finishes, on the Bimota that continues to impress in its first season in the series.

Home favourite Bradley Ray had another tough weekend aboard the Yamaha R1, with a fourth-place finish in race two being the highlight of his weekend. He finished in eighth place in the opening race and again in the final race of the weekend. He does just about hold onto third place in the championship, from the ever green and consistent Leon Haslam.

In the opening race of Sunday’s schedule Ryde carried his winning momentum into the second ZYN British Superbike Championship race at Brands Hatch; the Nitrous Coin Nitrous Competitions Racing rider had an intense early duel with Scott Redding, but the reigning champion was able to set a sensational pace to deliver victory.

At the start of the race, Max Cook launched into the lead ahead of Redding, with Ryde losing ground after not getting the best launch off the line. The reigning champion was determined though, with a big move into Druids for the first time to regain ground and move up to third after the opening few corners.

Ryde was pushing hard and after duelling with Redding over the opening laps with the pair trading blows, the Nitrous Coin Nitrous Competitions Racing rider was able to fend off his challenge and then made his move on Cook at Graham Hill Bend.

Ryde then smashed the lap record with consistent fast laps to give him an edge over the battle for second. Redding was able to make his move on lap eight and despite Cook trying to retaliate; he had to settle for third place.

Bradley Ray was fourth on the McAMS Yamaha, just adrift of the fight for the podium on the special anniversary liveried McAMS Yamaha. Behind there was another fierce battle between Ryan Vickers and Leon Haslam, with the Honda Racing UK rider emerging ahead at the chequered flag.

Christian Iddon was seventh on the Sencat Yamaha, with Glenn Irwin, Rory Skinner and Josh Brookes completing the top ten.

In the final race of the weekend, a fired-up Scott Redding was victorious in the final ZYN British Superbike Championship race of the weekend at Brands Hatch as the Hager PBM Racing Team claimed their fourth win of the season as he took the fight to double winner Kyle Ryde.

Redding admits he was frustrated after missing the win in the opening two races as he pushed to battle with Ryde, but the 2019 champion delivered in race three. At the start of the race, Bradley Ray grabbed the lead into Paddock Hill Bend for the first time, but Redding was determined and made a pass into Druids on the opening lap.

Redding was not going to settle for second and he held off Ryde and Cook over the opening laps and was trying to make a break when the BMW Safety Car was deployed on lap seven after Brayden Elliott crashed heavily at Stirlings.

When the race resumed, Redding backed the pack up and was able to fend off the initial attack. Ryde was trying everything to make it a treble, but he couldn’t get back ahead of his fierce title rival and there was 0.925s between them at the chequered flag.

Cook continued his strong weekend with a hat trick of third places as Leon Haslam held on to fourth after an earlier battle with Ryan Vickers and Bradley Ray, whilst Glenn Irwin was just adrift in seventh place.

The Cheshire Mouldings Yamaha pairing finished eighth and ninth with Rory Skinner holding off teammate Danny Kent with Joe Talbot in tenth place on the second of the AJN Steelstock bimotas.
