At the last round of the British Touring Car Championship a few weeks ago, title sponsors Kwik Fit were inspiring the next generation of motorsport mechanics and more at Brands Hatch.

43 pupils from Anthony Roper Primary School in Dartford were treated to an educational experience. The event aimed to inspire young minds by showcasing the diverse career opportunities within the automotive and motorsport industries.
Held on the eve of the British Touring Car Championship (BTCC) season finale, the day offered students exclusive, behind-the-scenes access to one of the UK’s premier racing events.
The morning kicked off with engaging classroom workshops highlighting various career paths. Activities included media presenting with Sky and ITV Presenter Isi Browning, hands-on first aid training with the TOCA medical team, LEGO race car engineering with Enovation Consulting, and an adrenaline-filled session on Puresims’ racing simulators.

After lunch, the excitement continued with a guided paddock tour. Highlights included a live tyre demonstration from Goodyear and visits to the team garages of Toyota Gazoo Racing UK with IAA and Team VERTU, where students got up close with BTCC race cars and spoke with mechanics and drivers.
The children also experienced the thrill of trackside action, watching the BTCC support series including the Vertu MINI CHALLENGE, Wera Tools British F4 Championship, Porsche Sprint Challenge Great Britain, and Porsche Carrera Cup Great Britain.
Speaking about the opportunity, Tom Gentle, Head of Retail Marketing at Kwik Fit, commented: “We’re thrilled to have hosted this special event at the highly anticipated BTCC finale. For many of these students, it was a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to see motorsport from the inside. At Kwik Fit, we’re committed to nurturing future talent and we hope this experience has sparked an interest in automotive and motorsport careers.”
