Zosiak to make Dynamos return
Zosiak to make Dynamos return

Two time NIHL South Division 1 All-Star and Invicta Dynamos Player of the Year Ondrej Zosiak is back with the Mos for a third consecutive season.

Head Coach Kevin Parrish announced at the club’s end of season presentation evening that the Slovak would return for 2017/18.

Ondrej Zosiak was a late addition to the Dynamos ahead of 2015/16 but arrived in Kent with over 100 appearances in the Slovak Extraliga under his belt as well as stints in both Austria and Poland. He was an instant success in the NIHL South’s top tier – ever present throughout the club’s 50 game campaign and thumping home 8 goals from the blue line whilst also claiming 24 assists. Far from outspoken, the blue liner earned plaudits with his professional displays and led by example in a fine debut season that saw him chosen as the club’s Player of the Year and voted into the prohockeynews.com All-Star line-up by his peers throughout the division.

After such a commanding first season in the NIHL South, retaining Ondrej Zosiak was seen as a major coup for the Dynamos but the Slovak had committed his immediate future to the club before having even removed his skates come the close of 2015/16. In 2016/17 he was a standout performer once more – this time the alternate captain claiming 12 goals throughout the campaign including one in the first leg of the playoff final against Chelmsford before the Dynamos went on to lift the trophy. In addition, the defenceman added 16 assists for 28 points in 46 outings but it was also his composure in his own zone, his professionalism and his leadership when called upon that ensured he was the team’s Player of the Year for the second term in succession come the close of the season. Furthermore he was once again recognised by the remainder of the league having been voted into the prohockeyhews.com All-Star line-up yet again.

Now, after 96 appearances in Kent, Ondrej Zosiak will return to take that tally into triple figures and Head Coach Kevin Parrish could not be happier that the 26 year old D-man has opted to stay put. Parrish said, “We struck gold when Ondrej joined us in 2015 and I’m delighted that he’s still going to be with us some three seasons later. He’s not just an excellent hockey player but he’s a fantastic guy and a real team player. He brings composure on the ice, leadership in the changing room and I’m sure there’s not a team in this division that wouldn’t have him on their roster. He gets on with his job, he’s a role model and a credit to the club. Ondrej has made the Dynamos his home away from home and I’m sure, like me, the fans will be delighted to see him back”.

Fans were indeed delighted to see Ondrej Zosiak making a return with news of his re-signing greeted with arguably the biggest cheer of the night during the club’s end of season presentation evening on Friday 21st April.

He will continue to wear the number 10 jersey that he has made his own at the SilverBlades and is the first player confirmed for the Dynamos ahead of the 2017/18 campaign. News of other players to make the roster ahead of the new season will be announced over the course of the summer.
