Yeovil Town v Welling United preview

Following their return to winning ways last weekend Welling United are on the road on Saturday with a tricky trip to Yeovil Town in the F.A. Trophy.

On Tuesday evening, the Glovers won two-one at Chesterfield to take them up to second place in the Vanarama National League behind league leaders Barrow.

They have now gone five games unbeaten, the last two being wins, and Rhys Murphy has scored six times during the spell to take him to sixteen goals this season including hat-tricks at home to Woking and at Wrexham.

However, Welling are in a decent run of form themselves and have only lost once in six games. Last Saturday they beat Hemel Hempstead Town two-nil at Park View Road. Moses Emmanuel opened the scoring with his second goal since returning to Welling and Nathan Green made sure of the three points when breaking his duck for the club.

Club captain Rob Swaine had to miss out through injury and neither Adam Coombes nor Bradley Goldberg were able to finish the game as they are recovering from their own injuries. Manager Mark Goldberg will be hoping that neither had a reaction and that both will be back in contention, along with Swaine, this weekend.

Sanchez Ming will also be available again following the end of his suspension and that will give the Welling manager an interesting decision to make as his replacement, Chiori Johnson, has impressed in Ming’s absence.

Goldberg will have an idea of what to expect as he has been able to watch the full ninety minutes of their recent one all draw with Bromley. He said “We’ve got nothing to lose really, everything to gain from it. It’s an important competition for us.

“We’ll give it everything that we’ve got and let’s see if we can at least get a draw and bring them back here.”
