Wycombe Wanderers v Charlton Athletic preview

Charlton travel to Adams Park on Tuesday, knowing a win would put them tantalisingly close to an automatic promotion spot.

The Addicks currently sit six points behind second placed Barnsley with a game in hand. Unfortunately for Lee Bowyer’s team‎, they also have to overhaul Sunderland – who are six points ahead with a game in hand – and Portsmouth who are four points clear, if they are to reach second place..

The play-offs look to be Charlton’s destiny, but Bowyer will be anxious to go into them in good form.

The Addicks will once again have a sizeable following behind them at Adams Park, and Lyle Taylor believes the fans have a part to play.

He paid this tribute to them following Saturday’s win at Plymouth:

“There was a lot of them and they made one hell of a noise. They pulled us out of it in the first half when we were really struggling and then they drove us on in the second half.

“You saw how quiet the home fans were in the second half, they were really deflated and ours were making an absolute racket in the corner.

“That’s a massive testament to them and thank you to them, because we probably would’ve gone under without their support. It’s a team game and the – our fans – are part of that.”

‎Bowyer has no fresh injury concerns, though Krystian Bielik was brought off just past the hour mark, to protect his troublesome ankle.

Bowyer may not want to risk playing him again so quickly. Chris Solly and Naby Sarr are others one who could be given a breather at Adams Park.

Charlton could line-up something like this: Phillips; Dijksteel, Bauer, Pearce, Purrington; Cullen, Reeves, Aribo, Williams; Taylor, Vetokele.

Subs:‎ Maxwell, Solly, Sarr, Bielik, Lapslie, Fosu, Vetokele.

The referee will be Anthony Coggins from Oxfordshire.

Bowyer will go into the game full of confidence, and will expect to come away with the three points.
