Wrexham vs Bromley preview

After taking four points from their last two matches, top of the table Bromley make the long trip to North Wales on Saturday to take on struggling Wrexham in the National League.

The Ravens usurped Halifax Town to take top spot last weekend with a 5-0 second half demolition, followed up by a hard fought 2-2 draw against Stockport County at Hayes Lane on Tuesday night. The results left The Ravens on 36 points from 19 games, a point clear of Halifax and two in front of Yeovil Town, who have a game in hand.

Manager Neil Smith said his players’ standards slipped against Stockport and he will be looking for a response in the next match as competition or places hots up with players returning from injury.

Wrexham have had a very difficult start to the season, fancied by many to be challenging for the title, The Red Dragons have found themselves near the bottom of the table and have already changed manager. Among Wrexham’s ranks is striker JJ Hooper who had a very impressive spell with Bromley last season when on loan from Grimsby Town.

Wrexham have lost their last three league games, the latest being a 1-0 defeat to Torquay United on Tuesday night, prior to a 2-1 reverse at Dagenham & Redbridge last Saturday.

The Red Dragons currently sit third from bottom on 16 points from 19 matches played, presenting new manager Dean Keates with a massive task on his return to the Racecourse Ground.

Bromley don’t have a great record at Wrexham, but last season they did battle back to draw 2-2 there with courtesy of a Frankie Sutherland penalty and an injury time own goal.

This game promises to be a fascinating encounter between a Wrexham side desperate for points at the wrong end of the table and a Bromley team looking to maintain their lead at the top.
