SKYBet League Two leaders Gillingham welcome Notts County to MEMS Priestfield – a contest that midfielder Jonny Williams is relishing.

The Welsh international who this week was described by boss Gareth Ainsworth as “a Swiss army knife in our midfield” has been talking to KSN this week ahead of the weekend and told us, “One thing that I have noticed playing against Notts County since I came here is that it is always a tough game!”
“They are very possession based – have some really good footballers and we have to respect them. But whenever any team comes to our place, we look to play with a high intensity and look to get Priestfield on our side right away!”
“We relish the challenge and will play our own game – we always adapt and are very adaptable now with personnel and shape so it’s hard to predict us as well.”
“They have got some very good players – I know that they lost David McGoldrick to Barnsley who I thought was probably the best player in the League last year, they still have some very good players, especially in the front line and it’s going to be a really tough test, but one that we are looking forward to!”
“Last weekend at Bromley was pretty much as we expected the game to go – maybe not in terms of goals conceded – but in terms of the battle and the overall output in the game.”
“We knew that it was going to be a tough game – the two strikers up top were a handful and they were ruthless in front of goal.”
“They were really well drilled by their manager and they have done really well since coming into the Football League which we respected, took a couple of early blows and punches, and went in at half-time two down after hoping we’d get something back before the break.”
“The Gaffer and Dobbo really calmed us down and put a game plan together for the second half to win the second half, and thankfully that’s what we did and managed to come away with a point and continue the unbeaten run under the manager and to do it was a huge moment for the Club!”
“Late goals are always brilliant if you are on the right side of them – it’s a great feeling! When you come away from games with a point or you are winning the game, the points are great and when you see the scenes and what it means to the travelling fans… we’re all together at the moment which is brilliant, it is a really enjoyable place to be playing my football at the moment and long may it continue!”
“There is a never say die attitude at the moment – I think it’s always been there, but we haven’t fully believed as a group maybe that we could get back into games – we were in a rut, and we stayed in a rut!”
“There is a real experience in the team now and a belief – a real blend of experience and youth here now. There are some really good individuals downstairs (in the dressing room) who are talented on the pitch, but off the pitch they bring in terms of where they have been, their experiences and are just really good people meaning that when we go out onto Priestfield or wherever, if you look to your left or look to your right, you have friends there and that means a lot!”
“Every time I have had that in my career it’s taken me and the team to a certain spot – it’s brilliant and I am really enjoying it!”
