There’s a return to Park View Road for Welling United when they host Whitehawk in an Isthmian League Premier Division encounter.

Having won two of their three matches on the spin away from home, a victory against the Brighton based club could take the Wings out of the bottom four for the first time for many months.
Last Saturday, Ryan Maxwell’s team visited Potters Bar Town and claimed a vital three points. After a fairly even first thirty minutes, the Wings scored twice through a Lekan Majoyegbe header and a rocket of a free kick by Sam Smith to put them in good shape at half time.
After the break, they were unable to add the third that they needed and conceded twice with the equaliser coming with just eight minutes remaining. The Wings then showed their resilience and went up to the other end and Jamie Reynolds put them back ahead. Although they had to survive a late onslaught, they held their nerve to claim three vital points.
Meanwhile, Whitehawk were crashing to a three-nil home defeat against Cray Wanderers before losing at home again on Tuesday, with Cheshunt the three-one victors. Harry Lodovica scored the Hawks goal which made it one-all at the time. They have lost their last five matches which has derailed any play-off hopes that they may have had, and they are now in thirteenth place in the table.
When the two teams met at the Enclosed Ground at the beginning of December, Welling claimed all three points. Bradley Sach put the Wings ahead in the third minute, and it looked like game, set and match when Lewis Chambers scored two minutes into stoppage time. However, Charlie Lambert pulled one back three minutes later but the Hawks couldn’t find a leveller.
Although three points on Saturday would probably have more significance for the Wings, Whitehawk manager Shaun Saunders will be very keen for his team to end their bad run so Maxwell’s team will need to be on top of their game if they are to record back to back wins.
