Two teams who broke their duck on Saturday after a slow start to the season meet when Welling United host Cray Valley PM in the Isthmian League Premier Division on August Bank Holiday Monday.

On the road, the Wings claimed an excellent three points at Chichester City. Ruben Shakpoke got in behind the defensive line to give Welling a deserved half time lead, however Joe Clarke levelled just past the hour mark. One minute of regulation time remained when John Ufuah set up Greg Cundle, and he made no mistake.
Meanwhile, Cray Valley won their first three points of the season at home to Ramsgate. Marcel Barrington clipped beyond the keeper to put the Millers ahead in the eighth minute but there were no further goals in the opening period.
Daniel Ajakaiye scored a second in the eighth minute of the second half and Tom Beere added a third three minutes later. Although Alfie Paxman pulled one back for the Rams from the spot, Ibby Akanbi’s goal in stoppage time ensured a convincing win for Cray.
In their three games prior to Saturday, Welling were defeated on the opening day of the season at Cheshunt before suffering one-nil home defeats against Aveley and Lewes. Starting with consecutive home games, the Millers were defeated by Carshalton Athletic and Burgess Hill Town before losing three-two at Whitehawk.
It will be the first ever league meeting between the clubs, however, a Bank Holiday local derby with players who have represented each side should ensure a lively encounter with both looking to back up their results two days earlier.
