Easter starts for Welling United with a home game against Chichester City in the Isthmian League Premier Division.

Having been in the bottom four since mid-August, the Wings climbed out of the relegation zone last Saturday as they took a point away from Wingate and Finchley. That eased them ahead of Hashtag United on goal difference with a game in hand.
It was a match in which the strong wind played a big part. In the first half, Welling struggled to get it out of their own half and conceded early. However, once they had come to terms with it, they created chances of their own and Lekan Majoyegbe came close with a header that crashed out off the post. The Wings then dominated the second half but couldn’t find the net until the eighty-ninth minute when goalkeeper Mackenzie Foley picked out Troy Howard. He controlled it brilliantly before finishing clinically.
Meanwhile, Chichester were falling to a two-one home defeat against Ramsgate. They went ahead in the eighteenth minute through Zac Jeanes, however, Alfie Paxman levelled just after the hour mark. The Rams won it with thirteen minutes remaining through a goal scored by Tijan Jadama.
That left the Lilywhites safe in twelfth place on fifty points from thirty-seven games, too far away from the play off zone to mount a challenge, but safe from any risk of relegation.
When the two teams met at Oaklands Park back in August, the Wings claimed all three points. Ruben Shakpoke put Welling ahead on the half hour mark but Joe Clarke levelled just shy of the hour, It appeared that the spoils were going to be shared until Greg Cundle popped up with the winner with one minute left on the clock.
Ryan Maxwell, Welling’s manager, will be monitoring the fitness of Lewis Gard, however, the rest of the squad that have gone three games unbeaten should be fit and will be looking to extend the run by completing the double over the West Sussex based club.
