Welling United v Hashtag United preview

After two visits to Essex in three days, Welling United return home with a match against Hashtag United in the Isthmian League Premier Division.

Their two jaunts through the Dartford Tunnel ended with one victory and one defeat. Having beaten Canvey Island three-one last Saturday, they travelled to Aveley, fourth in the league, on Monday. Having gone behind ten minutes into the second half, Bradley Sach equalised with nine minutes remaining. However, the hosts scored in the last minute to claim all three points.

On Tuesday night, Hashtag travelled to St. Albans City. They were two down at half time before Nathan Wilson pulled one back five minutes after the restart. However, two more Saints goals in the last seventeen minutes ensured a disappointing night for the visitors.

They are currently fifth from bottom, five points ahead of the Wings having gone four league games undefeated, two wins and two draws, before their Tuesday trip to Clarence Park. Away from home they have won three, drawn two and lost nine.

It will be Hashtag’s first ever visit to Welling, however, they entertained the Wings on a Tuesday evening at the end of September. Luke-May Parrott put the hosts ahead one minute into the second half but John Ufuah levelled ten minutes later  It looked as though the match was heading for a draw until Sach scored the winner nine minutes from time. Sadly for Welling, he was a Hashtag player at that point of the season.

Ryan Maxwell, Welling’s manager, will be hoping to have Junior Savane and Jamie Reynolds back in contention after they missed the match at Aveley. He will also be monitoring the recovery of the other members of the squad who played two tough games in three days before deciding on his starting line-up for what could turn out to be a very important match.
