Welling United v Dartford Preview

After the wash out on New Year’s Day, Welling United and Dartford will be hoping that preparations for their game tonight at Park View Road are not ruined by more bad weather.FOOTBALL (WELLING AWAY)

Both teams will be changed from the fixture on Boxing Day, in which Welling were victorious after going behind. Dartford opened the scoring when Lee Burns netted from close range but Welling equalised after the break when Ross Lafayette equalised before Kurtis Guthrie headed home the winner.

The Wings had another game two days later when they lost 3-1 at Aldershot Town after Lafayette had put them ahead. Dartford have not played since.

Aristide Bassele and De’Reece Vanderhyde have now departed from Park View Road having returned to AFC Bournemouth and Leyton Orient respectively. Baily Cargill will be available, however, as his loan has been extended until 22nd

Meanwhile it appears to be two in and one out for the Darts. Centre back Rory McAuley and striker Andy Pugh, one time Welling favourite, have signed on a one month loan from Cambridge United however Gillingham’s Adam Birchall has returned to his parent club. Tony Burman has extended Jim Stevenson’s spell from Luton Town and he is in line for his fourth game against Welling this season.

Blaine Hudson of Welling, and Dartford’s Lee Noble both have bans to serve so will miss out, whilst the respective squads have also been hit by injuries.

Loui Fazakerley, Jake Gallagher and Jack Obersteller are recovering from injuries and this game may be a little too soon for them to start for Welling. Loick Pires will be out for a lengthy spell as an x-ray has shown he has suffered a leg fracture.

Danny Harris has been out for Dartford, but their supporters will be hoping for a speedy return and they are also awaiting Ryan Hayes’ come-back.
