Danson Sports hosted a pre-season friendly between Park View Road tenants, Welling United and Erith and Belvedere, on a steamy afternoon in Crayford.

Both teams came into the match with established players, new signings and trialists as supporters got their first look at some of the new players.

Troy Howard had the first chance of the match for Welling when he drilled an effort into the side netting then one of their new signings, Ryan Kingsford, eased in from the left and fired just over. Kaan Bennett came even closer when he struck the bar.

In the sixteenth minute the Wings went ahead. Fumnaya Shomotun found space in the left hand side of the penalty and moved it onto his right foot before tucking it away inside the far post.

Kingsford came close again when his initial shot was well saved by Danny Alexander and his follow up came back out off the base of the post.

Eight minutes before half time, Welling added a second. A foul in a dangerous area was punished with a free kick and Sam Smith’s trademark strike flew beyond a helpless Alexander.

Oliver Reeve’s tremendous strike drew a brilliant save out of Alexander before Welling goalkeeper, Mackenzie Foley was tested when making a low save from a Jack Sammoutis twenty yard shot. Howard had one last shot in the first half and Alexander got down well to push it around the post.

Three minutes after the restart, the Deres pulled one back. Alfie Bloomfield was tripped in the eighteen yard box and he got back up to slot home from the penalty spot.

Two minutes later, Welling regained their two goal advantage when a trialist delivered a corner and Nathan Cooper rose to head home at the far post. Then, on the hour mark, the Wings added a fourth when Demaray Anyadike bundled it home from ten yards out.

Another trialist had a shot saved by Alexander before the first trialist was well off target after a corner had been knocked back out into his path. Four minutes remained when the second trialist had another chance. He was sent clear by Anyadike and clipped it over the advancing Alexander and just inside the far post.
