There were no Halloween horrors for Welling United as they extended their one hundred percent home league record by beating Carshalton Athletic in the Isthmian League Premier Division.

Two goals in each half ensured the Wings saw out the match out comfortably while the visitors failed to register a single effort on target.
Although not required to make a save, Welling goalkeeper Mackenzie Foley’s accurate distribution gave the Carshalton defence plenty to think about. They allowed an early one to bounce into the path of Chris Harris and his first time half volley flew wide.
Tyrell Miller-Rodney arrived late to meet a Sam Smith corner and his low header was saved by Ben Dudzinski then another Smith corner fell to the Welling midfielder. His first shot was blocked and his follow up took a firm enough deflection to take the pace out of it and the visitors’ goalkeeper made a comfortable save.

Midway through the first half, the home team went ahead. Their manager, Ryan Maxwell, was disappointed when an advantage was not allowed but that was soon forgotten when Smith delivered the free kick and Lekan Majoyegbe met it with a bullet header that flew home.
Four minutes later, Welling doubled their lead. Kaan Bennett sent in a teasing cross that Dudzinski could only tip as far as Smith. He controlled it before firing into the net.
Nathan Young-Coombes sent a free kick over for the Robins before Smith had a shot deflected over just before half time.

Steven Bates, Carshalton’s manager, made a triple change at the break as they had to chase the game and Young-Coombes fired into the side netting from a tight angle. He then hooked well over when a Matt Yates corner fell to him, before a twenty-five yard effort by substitute Robert Howard flew into the trees outside the ground.
Maxwell responded by making a change and then a double substitution, at the same time changing the shape and Welling regained control. Excellent skills and tenacity allowed Kevin Rivera the opportunity to get a cross over and Harris headed over.
Just over fifteen minutes remained when Welling added their third. Jamie Reynolds found Demaray Anyadike. Although his initial shot was blocked, it came back out to him and he made no mistake with a clinical finish.
Nahum Melvin-Lambert then burst through but Dudzinski was out quickly to nick it off his toes before Micah Anthony was introduced for his Welling debut.

Nine minutes before the end, the Wings added a fourth. Reynolds played it through to Harris and he squeezed it across to Melvin-Lambert who tapped it into the open net.
On Tuesday night, a youthful Welling team, with a sprinkle of first team players, will contest a London Senior Cup tie at Cray Valley PM before the full first team returns to league action next Saturday at St Albans City.
