It took a stoppage time penalty to decide the FA Cup First Qualifying Round replay between Welling United and Faversham Town in favour of the hosts.

There was little to choose between the two clubs in the original tie but Welling created the better chances in the second match and it is they that will be visiting Dulwich Hamlet in the next round.
Ryan Blackman hit an early shot for the Wings that goalkeeper Thomas Hadler claimed comfortably and he had another effort saved just after the fifteen minute mark. Another straight forward stop followed to deny Kaan Bennett before Faversham’s Kane Haysman drew an easy catch by Mackenzie Foley.
Demaray Anyadike fired over before he created an opportunity for Nahum Melvin-Lambert who was unable to hit the target.

Seven minutes before half time, the Wings went ahead. Nathan Bertram-Cooper made a block and followed it out. It found it’s way out to the left and he continued to advance. When it was crossed in the centre back cushion headed it down to Anyadike who cut in and fired low beyond Hadler into the bottom corner.
Bennett came close early in the second period but it was Faversham who levelled twenty minutes in. Jack Evans delivered a corner into a busy six yard box and Tommy Fagg appeared to get the last touch before it crossed the line.
Anyadike thought that he had put Welling back ahead but was flagged for offside then Melvin-Lambert headed wide from close range when meeting Troy Howard’s excellent cross. Howard then fired over.

Three minutes remained when Wings’ manager Ryan Maxwell brought on substitute Ryan Kingsford and that proved to be a master stroke. A long clearance by Foley beat Harry Hudson and Kingsford broke free. Hudson reacted by pulling the Welling striker back earning the defender a red card and the Wings a penalty. Kingsford took the responsibility and sent Hadler the wrong way.
There was no time for Faversham to respond and their unbeaten record in all competitions came to an end whilst Welling maintained their one hundred percent home form.
