Welling United 1-3 Erith Town

Park View Road hosted a London Senior Cup match as holders Welling United hosted fellow Bexley Borough club Erith Town.

And it was the Dockers, for whom Jamie Stuart ran the game, who claimed the win to progress and end the Wings’ defence of the trophy.

Early on the hosts looked the livelier and Adam Molloy made a good save from a Nathan Green free kick before Aaron Cosgrave came close when cutting in and unleashing a shot that came back off the post.

Montel Agyemang was pulling the strings at this stage but, like Cosgrave, struggled to find options up front and the Dockers took advantage by going ahead. Ralique Lawrence won a corner and the delivery found Michael Power at the near post where the prolific striker slotted home.

Now with their tails up, Erith added a second before the interval when Harry Gamble finished in style from the edge of the pe.

After the interval, Gavin McCallum fired over and then fired across the face of goal before Theo Widdrington also failed to keep a shot down.

Further chances were on target but Molloy saved well from McCallum and then Widdrington however it was not all one way and Power had a shot deflected wide after his initial free kick came back off the wall.

Once more McCallum was thwarted by Molloy before Welling were reduced to ten when Jay Rich-Bagheulou was dismissed for a professional foul on the last man.

Substitute Luke Rooney pulled one back with two minutes remaining when firing home from the edge of the box then Welling came close to levelling through Mason Burstow’s downward header but again Molloy saved.

The Dockers made sure of their progress with a third, three minutes into injury time, scored by Lawrence with a powerful drive.
