Welling Town vs Corinthian preview

Tonight Welling Town welcome Corinthian to Bayliss Avenue in the only SEA Pioneer Premier Division game of the evening, kick off 7.45pm.

A fantastic start to the season for Welling Town was followed up by a run of nine successive defeats in all competitions before and over the festive period.

SCEFL Premier new boys “The Boots” have picked up in recent weeks though with a credible performance and 2-2 draw away to Deal Town, only being clawed back thanks to a Deal Town 93rd minute equaliser.

Last weekend a 4-0 victory on the road at Crowborough Athletic got them back to winning ways with goals from top scorer Joel Thompson, Malik Ouani (his third in three starts), Ryan Mahal and Jordan Sandiford.

The addition of Ouani and Alex Nelson from Greenwich Borough, as well as the return of other key injured personnel, has restored their place in the top half of the table.

Corinthian meanwhile have been busy racking up the league wins and cup victories in their pursuit of all trophies on offer this season.

Last season’s runners up to Cray Valley currently sit in third place in the league knowing a point or three this evening will take them in to second place behind long-term leaders Beckenham Town.

Not content with another title race, Corinthian come off the back of a home 3-0 win versus Sporting Khalsa in the last 16 of the FA Vase, taking them to the quarter-finals where they will face Leighton Town with Wembley within touching distance.

Having lost just one league game since the reverse fixture in September, a 2-1 Town win, Corinthian will be eager to avenge that defeat and ensure they aren’t runners up in successive years, whilst “The Boots” will be determined to put in another good performance against one of the divisions best and most established sides.

Kick-off this evening is at 7.45pm, with Adults £7, Concessions £5, and under 16s £1.
