Faversham Town boss Tommy Warrilow is a very happy football manager as we begin the final three months of the season.

His Faversham Town side who only won promotion back to the Isthmian League last May, sit in the middle of the Play Off charge after a comprehensive and clinical 5-1 drubbing of Hastings United at the weekend which lifted Warrilow’s side back into third place in the table.
Reflecting on all things Faversham, the manager conceded, “Nothing is won yet but at the same time it’s been a great season!”
“After losing our last home game (2-3 to Erith Town on January 17th) it was important we bounced back Saturday. We started really well but they went a goal up.”
“We got a reaction and deserved to go in 2-1 in front getting in some good areas and had a couple of penalty shouts, but we got the second goal bang on half time which was perfect timing and the important thing was then to keep the momentum going. I felt we did that second half!”
Goals three and four were both netted by Harrison Pont and his manager was full of praise for his midfielder.
“He’s got a tremendous shot on him, and I was glad for him as I think he has been our best player for the last few weeks.”
“They are all training for their shirts now – the bench was really strong on the weekend again and the squad has been told that they are training for shirts which is really good as there is a good atmosphere around the place even though Erith gave us a kick in the teeth two weeks ago, to bounce back like we did against Hastings, overall it really has been a massively positive season.”
“We know we will get knock backs like that in football,” Warrilow continued.
“No one goes through football without it and it’s how you react to it. It ruins your weekend and keeps thinking about it – even now you look at it and “if only?” But you have to move on, you can’t keep moaning, but you don’t forget and I do think that that is key. As if you drop your standards, you get punished in this League.”
“You could see how Hastings got a draw with Whyteleafe last week and how they upset teams, but Saturday we really were just too strong.”
As well as Pont, Faversham’s top scorer Tashi-Jay Kwayie netted twice taking his season’s tally to eighteen.
“Even by his own admissions. He’s had a bit of a dry spell, but I thought Faggie (Tollie Fagg) was outstanding for us and was desperately unlucky not to score himself. He’s very happy at the moment and believe me when I say that that is the most important thing,” Warrilow said smiling.
“I’m pleased for everyone at the moment – we have a good set of lads, the demands are high here and we do give them a hard time. But obviously, thankfully since we came in, we have been going in the right direction – I will never take that for granted and that is the most important thing…”
“Saturday was a fantastic result and is something to build on. We want to go again now and hopefully sustain that!”
The win took Faversham back to third place in the table; “Really pleased!” Warrilow admitted.
“We had a difficult January, but we have six games now in February and everyone is going to have to really put shifts in – the squad is nearly back fit.”
“If we can keep chalking them off before you know where we are at the end of the month there’s only nine games left so if we can keep looking forward and keep the momentum going.”
“Nothing is won yet but at the same time it’s been a great season!”
