Justin Edinburgh’s side, who finished ninth in League One last season, are only three points above the relegation zone having recorded five wins in 17 matches.

And Edinburgh, who was given the backing of Gillingham chairman Paul Scally despite their embarrassing cup exit, is likely to make changes for Saturday’s trip to Walsall.

Defender Aaron Morris (knee) and midfielder Lee Martin (ankle) however, both continue their recoveries from injury.

Walsall can welcome back Andreas Makris and Liam Kinsella from international duty for the clash with Gillingham.

Makris linked up with Cyprus while Kinsella travelled to La Manga for the Republic of Ireland Under-21s’ friendlies against the Czech Republic and Slovakia.

Kieron Morris could return after an ankle injury and James O’Connor continues to battle a groin injury.

Maz Kouhyar is out with a knee injury having undergone surgery last month.
