Although it took two late goals to turn it around, Welling United were good value for their FA Cup First Qualifying Round win at Uxbridge.

Early on, the hosts looked lively. Freddie Norman was twice called into action, first when saving from Eremide Lawal and then when holding on well to a twenty yard Harry Rush shot that was cleanly struck at him.
At the other end, James Dyer’s deep corner was headed goalwards by Lekan Majoyeobe but cleared off the line. Rush then had a shot turned over by Norman before the hard working Welling wide man, John Ufuah, had a shot deflected past the post.
New Welling signing Eze Ebuzoeme shot wide from the edge of the penalty area before Ufuah nicked possession away from a defender and got a shot away but Mark Scott made a good save.
Three minutes before half time, the hosts went ahead. Disappointingly for Welling, it was from a breakaway from a Wings corner that was finished by a twenty yard shot by Liam Prior-Tack that dipped late over Norman.

Shortly after the restart, Ruben Shakpoke, carrying a knock, was unable to turn a free kick home and was replaced soon after following a good shift. Henry Sinai replaced him.
Lawal headed over from a Kai Hobbs cross but Welling continued to enjoy more of the possession and territorial advantage. Sinai pulled it back to fellow substitute Jack Leahy and he shot over from fifteen yards when he should probably have tested the goalkeeper.
Once again Lawal gave Welling a warning with a low shot that Norman blocked and then claimed before anyone followed up. Dyer then sliced a shot for the Wingsand it floated over.
There were just three minutes of regulation time remaining when Welling levelled. Dyer delivered a deep free kick and Logan Dobbs looped a header over Scott and inside the far post.
Massimo Giamattei curled a shot wide for Uxbridge before Welling stunned the home crowd with a goal in the fourth minute of stoppage time. Sinai slipped it in to Greg Cundle and although his shot took a deflection to take the pace of it, it still had enough power to find its way into the bottom corner.

As the last few seconds elapsed, Uxbridge won a corner and goalkeeper Scott went up. It was delivered long and Kyle Bailey headed it out via the far post.
Moments later, referee Michael Smith blew the final whistle and Welling were able to celebrate a morale boosting win.
