Two Ginetta cars for Team HARD
Two Ginetta cars for Team HARD

Kent based Team HARD Racing will once again enter two Ginetta G55 GT4s in British GT this season.

The outfit, one of UK motorsport’s most prolific, will dovetail its British GT programme with BTCC and VW Cup commitments. The news also brings the number of confirmed Ginettas to four following HHC Motorsport’s announcement in December.

While driver pairings remain under wraps for now Team HARD has confirmed the signing of an all-Silver crew for its first car, as well as what it describes as a ‘star of the future’ in the second. All three also benefit from prior GT4 experience.

2016’s GT4 Teams’ champions endured a much tougher campaign last season, but team principal Tony Gilham is confident of a stronger showing this year despite the number of new-generation cars already confirmed.

“GT4 is growing at a very fast rate and the level of competition is very high,” he said. “We are under no illusions how strong the grid will be this year but are more than ready and as a team we are always up for the challenge.

“I think the rise of interest in the GT world as a whole and especially GT4 makes it a very appealing career move for up and coming racing drivers. Couple that with our unique concept as a team and that is arguably one of the best overall packages available.”

Team manager Gary Allen added: “It was touch and go for a while as to whether we had our two cars accepted for 2018. The appeal of GT racing and the SRO package has meant that the series is in fact over-subscribed, so it was a case of working as hard as possible to make sure we were in the best shape possible for 2018 following approval of our entries.

“We now have a dedicated GT factory and have built a very solid infrastructure as we look to challenge again for the team championship we won in 2016.”

Team HARD’s Ginettas join the likes of BMW, Jaguar, Mercedes-AMG, McLaren, Nissan on this year’s grid, which assembles for the first time at Oulton Park on March 31-April 2.

The team is also expected to attend British GT’s media day at Donington Park on March 8.
