Tunbridge Wells win North Kent Trophy
Tunbridge Wells win North Kent Trophy

On Saturday 22nd September a team of 10 players (5 foursomes matches) played in the final against Eltham Warren, at the venue of “Hever Golf Club”.

This trophy has been played for buy all the 9 and 18 hole clubs in North Kent for the past 64 years.

The trophy was put up in 1948, but even though TWGC was formed in 1989, we have only got to the final once in the clubs history in 1991 and lost on the 21st hole.

This year there were two 9 hole clubs in the final which is a very rare occurrence, as the 18 hole clubs have a better selection of players.

Phil Adcock (playing Captain and Captain of the club this year) praised all the team on a fantastic result, as in the last two years the club has won (The Jack Hicks Trophy) and (The North Kent Trophy). Two trophies that had never been won before, which is great for our 9 hole club.

Eltham Warren brought a great team to challenge us, and it was felt that we were the under dogs in the final.

The result was 3.5 – 1.5.

The whole playing team over the past preliminary and final matches were;

Fred Adcock (captain)

Mike Fishlock.

Mark Fenner.

Andy Dobson.

Richard Huges.

Nick Hill.

Dave Webzell.

Peter Galbraith.

Dave Abrahams.

Chris Brind.

Gary Kent.
