Tredwell called into England ODI squad

Kent spinner James Tredwell has been called up by England to replace Graeme Swann for the remainder of the ODI series with South Africa.

The 30 year old will join straight up with his England team-mates for the remaining three One Day International games in the series with England trailing 1-0 in the five match series.

Tredwell was part of the Kent team that were taking on Leicestershire in the County Championship game at Grace Road, but will now head straight to London to join up with the England squad ahead of the Third One Day International at The Oval on Friday.

England then take on the South Africans in the Fourth One Day International at Lord’s on Sunday with the final game of the series taking place on Wednesday 5th September at Trent Bridge.

That will mean Tredwell will miss the start of Kent’s County Championship game with Derbyshire that begins at Canterbury on Tuesday morning with Adam Riley expected to be drafted into the squad for both the Leicestershire and Derbyshire games in his place.

Tredwell has played six One Day Internationals for England since his debut against Bangladesh in the World Cup in 2010, where he took 4 for 48.

His last ODI for England was in July against Australia at Old Trafford, in a game England won by 7 wickets with Tredwell taking 2 for 23 in his 7 overs, whilst running out Peter Forrest.
