Tough weekend for Crees
Tough weekend for Crees

It was a case of what might have been for Michael Crees last weekend in the latest installment of the Kwik Fit British Touring Car Championship at Knockhill.

Having qualified outside the top 15, he had it all to do to score points in race one and to be fair he looked like he was on course to do that.

When the rain hit he had worked his way up into the top five and was looking good but unfortunately he ended up off the track and a DNF, after staying out on slicks when the second rain came down.

Starting from P20 on the grid for the second race of the weekend, he would make some gains and come home P18, but unfortunately outside the points.

In the final race of the weekend it didn’t go much better as once again Creesy was a DNF, to finish a tough weekend.

Speaking after the weekend, he said: “It was a tough weekend up at Knockhill. It could have turned out differently after running in 5th place in race one, as we stayed out on slicks despite the worsening weather.

“It seemed like the right call until a second wave of rain flooded the track within seconds. This put us at the back for race two, which was disappointing. Despite this setback, we managed to move forward in races two and three before retirement in the final race of the day.

“Ultimately, we ended the weekend feeling disappointed, as it easily could have gone the other way. A big thank you to the team and the support I received this weekend; it was amazing. I can’t wait for Donington Park in a few weeks.”
