Tottenham vs Gillingham – Preview

The Gills head to White Hart Lane this evening for their third round EFL Cup match against Tottenham in what promises to be an entertaining tie. Gills celebrate

It also means that manager Justin Edinburgh returns to his former club for the first time as manager, and he is keen to show what he and the Gills can do against their Premier League opposition.

Having knocked our fellow Premier League side Watford in the second round the Gills will once be looking to cause a cup upset in front of the travelling Gills fans, with the club having sold out the away allocation.

Although with Jamie O’Hara having played for the club, David Kerslake, Paul Konchesky and Emmanuel Osadebe having connections with the North London club, it is going to be an emotional evening for all involved.

Bradley Dack is likely to be in the starting eleven, despite being substituted against Port Vale at the weekend. Unfortunately for O’Hara he will not get to play at White Hart Lane against his former side, as he has a heel injury. Rory Donnelly is likely to be back in the squad having missed the weekend game, in a boost to Edinburgh’s attacking options.Bradley Dack

Spurs will definitely be without Harry Kane, as it was confirmed that the England striker will be out for a number of weeks, with an ankle injury. Fellow England international Eric Dier is likely to  miss out on the game as well after picking up a knock in the game against Stoke at the weekend.

It is also likely that the home side will field a much changed side, with the league and Champions League taking much of their focus as the season goes on. Even with a much changed side, they will have a whole host of internationals looking to impress the manager and force their way into his plans.
