Torquay United v Bromley preview

Bromley face another tough away trip in their quest for a National League Play Off place on Saturday evening, when they travel down to Devon to face league leaders Torquay United live in front of the BT Sport cameras.

The Ravens go into the game on the back on an impressive 1-0 home win over Hartlepool Utd on Monday, Jude Arthurs heading the vital goal just before half time, the victory took Andy Woodman’s up to seventh in the table with 58 points from 37 matches played.

Since Woodman took over as manager in March, Bromley have won five drawn two and lost only one game, which has kept them on the fringes of the play of places and in with a chance of making the post season games going into the final five fixtures.

This good run being achieved despite injuries to Byron Webster, Taylor Maloney, Courtney Duffus and Jack Holland, although Holland did make a welcome return to the bench for the Bank Holiday Monday win, coming on for the final few minutes.

Torquay are top of the National League with a massive 76 points from 38 games, The Gulls are on an excellent run of form winning four of their last five fixtures and are unbeaten in ten league matches. On Monday The Gulls won 2-0 away to Chesterfield, goals in each half from Connor Lemonheigh-Evans and Billy Waters saw Manager Gary Johnson’s side open up a four-point cushion at the top of the table, ahead of Sutton Utd who have one game in hand.

When the sides met at Hayes Lane in October, Torquay won 2-1, Byron Webster putting Bromley in front early on before Adam Randell equalised in the second half and Daniel Wright won the game with a late penalty. This match looks set to be equally as tight and with the stakes high for both teams it could be a tense affair, with Torquay looking to win the league and Bromley hoping to stay in the play off places.

The game will be played behind closed doors as per the current Covid 19 restrictions, but supporters can watch the game live on BT Sport, kicking off at 5:20pm.
