Tonbridge Bobcats continue winning start

Sunday 21st May saw the Tonbridge Bobcats continue their winning start of the 2023 season, this time facing off against the Brighton Jets at home, winning 13-3 in the first game and a resounding 20-5 victory in the second game.

The day started brightly in Tonbridge with perfect sunny weather, freshly cut grass and a newly painted field. During the first game, the Bobcat’s defence conceded a mere 3 runs in the whole 5 innings.

Notably, throw downs from the catcher to 3rd base for an out and a number of great catches in the outfield from fly balls helped secure the victory.
As the day progressed, despite heavy cloud, the weather held out for the Bobcats’ 4th win of the season.

The first inning of game 2 finished 5-5, however the Bobcat defence held the Jets in the 2nd inning and continued to score 5 themselves for each of the following 3 innings, for a final score of 20 – 5. The Tonbridge Bobcats now have a 4 – 0 winning record.

Double A side Tonbridge Wildcats lost 14 – 7 away to the Brighton Brewers, in a hard fought game on the coast.

Sunday 28th sees the Bobcats on a bye week, however the Wildcats will play at home at Borley Field, Tonbridge in their rearranged game against the Croydon Pirates. Weather permitting, the game will start promptly at 12 p.m.

Games are free to attend at Borley Field and Tonbridge Baseball Club is always on the lookout for new and experienced players aged 14+. Check them out on Facebook, Instagram and at www.Tonbridgebaseball.com.

This week, we support Baseball Outlet, who supply Tonbridge Baseball Club with their apparel.
