Tonbridge Angels won with a last gasp winner in the 8^th minute of added on time and in the process did the double over Promotion chasing Hungerford Town.

Tonbridge also had a penalty saved and for the last 35 minutes played against ten men but in the end they got their just rewards and three valuable points

The game started with both sides a bit frantic but In the 8^th minute Sol Wanjui-Smith found himself in the area & his shot from an angle was saved by Jon Henly, then two minutes later Joe Turner running forward on the left saw his shot from the edge of the area go wide.

Tonbridge nearly took the lead in the 15^th minute when a Turner free kick to the back post found Luke Jenkins but his header went just past the post, a minute later it was Hungerford who nearly took the lead when Jake Evans on the edge of the area saw his stunning shot come back of the crossbar & cleared.

The game went a little stale for a while with both defences on top then in the 43^rd minute Adam Coombs on the left cut inside & his shot from 20 yards was deflected into the arms of Luke Cairney.

Then disaster struck as in the 2^nd minute off added on time Hungerford took the lead when Evans & Wanjui-Smith combined & Evans in the area saw his low shot creep in the near post beating Henly’s dive. 

The second half started with Tonbridge starting the quicker as in the 47^th minute Coombs saw his cross into the area volleyed wide by Turner when it seemed easier to hit the target.

In the 57^th minute Evans corner hit low to Ryan Seagar who from 15 yards saw his shot go over the bar. Two minutes later the referee made a very contentious call when the ball was knocked down the left wing & Wanjui-Smith chased it down & Henly came rushing out & seemed to take Wanjui-Smith out but the forward received a booking for diving.

In the 65^th minute Tonbridge got a lifeline when a corner into the area saw the ball bounce around & then a shot came in & Louis McGrory appeared to handle it & a penalty was given as well as McGrory being sent off, up stepped Turner but Cairney diving to his right saved it.

Tonbridge suddenly went for it while Hungerford were just going to hang on if they could & rely on breakaways. Two minutes after the penalty Craig Braham-Barrett on the left wing cut inside & his deflected shot went just over the bar. In the 71^st minute a corner into the area was headed just wide by Ibrahim Olutade.

Time was running out for Tonbridge & in the 85^th minute Turner’s cross into the area saw Tom Wood’s header saved, then in the next minute the crowd erupted as Tonbridge finally scored, the ball was crossed into the area & bounced around until Wood pounced on it & shot in from 5 yards.

In the very next minute Tonbridge thought they had scored when Jenkins cross into the area saw Wood head down for Olutade & from 15 yards his goal bound shot was superbly saved by Cainey’s outstretched leg for a corner.

At this moment in the game Tonbridge would have taken a point but the referee decided there would be at least 5 minutes added on & this gave Tonbridge hope.

They bombarded the Hungerford goal without much effect & then in the 8^th minute of added on time the crowd erupted again as Tonbridge got the winner, Braham-Barrett on the left beat the full back & his low cross saw Wood side foot it in from 5 yards.

The full time whistle went & the joy of the Tonbridge players was there to see & it was their first win in 11 games maybe they could now go on a winning run, now Kings Lynn are next in the Trophy.
