Tonbridge Angels 0-0 Dulwich Hamlet
Tonbridge Angels 0-0 Dulwich Hamlet

This was the second meeting between these two clubs in the space of five days, this time a league fixture which was more important for both clubs as they try to get into the play-offs.

Tonbridge’s defence proved valuable as they stopped Dulwich from scoring and for a lot of the match they looked like they were the away team.

Dulwich controlled the first half and had six half chances to score whilst Tonbridge had none but defended well. In the 12th minute Nathan Green received the ball on the edge of the area went into the area and his low shot was deflected over the bar by Sonny Miles.

In the 27th minute they were unlucky not to score when Green on the left crossed into the six yard area where Dipo Akingyeah header came back off the crossbar. Three minutes later Akingyeah 20 yards out turned and shot over the bar then in the 36th minute Gavin Tomlin tried to chip Jonathan Henley from 20 yards but saw it go just over the bar.

Eight minutes later Ashley Carew tried his luck from 20 yards but his chip was pushed over the bar by Henley. In the dying moments of the half a ball into the area saw Jack Parter head the effort off the line and cleared.

The second half was different to the first as Tonbridge finally got going and for the first 15 minutes of the half Tonbridge went forward and in the 46th minute a Nick Wheeler corner to the near post was flicked on by Tom Phipp for Alex Akrofi whose overhead kick went over the bar.

In the 68th minute Dulwich had a great chance to score when a cross to the far post was dropped by Henley and came out to Sanchez Ming but from 8 yards he blasted his shot over the bar. In the 88th minute Tonbridge nearly snatched it as a Luke Blewden long throw into the area found Nathan Elder whose header was saved at the near post by Preston Edwards.

The final whistle went and Tonbridge could celebrate a point gained in their push for the play-offs while Dulwich would say they dropped two points considering how much possession they had.
