Three Bridges 1-3 Cray Valley PM

Two goals from recalled wide man Denzel Gayle helped Valley get back on track with three points at Jubilee Walk.

Recalled along with Rory Hill to replace Jack Sammoutis and Francis Babalola following Tuesday’s defeat at East Grinstead Town, Gayle’s pace and trickery was a constant thorn in a Bridges defence that had conceded just one goal in their last three outings.

The Millers took the lead in the 18th minute as, taking possession wide on the right, Gayle played the ball infield to Hassan Ibrahiym .

Ibrahiym’s elegent turn infield enabled him to return the ball to Gayle who cut in from the right, beat a defender with an exquisite shimmy, and curled a low left footed drive beyond the reach of former Crystal Palace Under 18 goalkeeper Kieron Thorp.

One became two for The Millers just two minutes later as Ibrahiym took on a pass from Nathaniel Blanks before firing past Thorp, into the net off a post.

Ben Bacon struck the bar for the hosts from 30 yards shortly after half time after being found by Dan Ferreira, but it was Valley who struck next to surely secure the points.

The excellent Gayle fed Rory Hill on the right before moving inside. Hill raced down the line before squaring the ball back for Gayle to slot home.

Bridges did manage to pull a goal back shortly afterwards however as a crossfield ball from Curtis Gayler was played back to  Bacon who converted of a post.

Gayle went close to completing his hat-trick midway through the half, but his mazy run through the heart of the Three Bridges defence was foiled by Thorp on the edge of his 18 yard box.

As the clock ticked down, Millers boss Kevin Watson took the opportunity to give 16 year old Jude Salmon a first senior appearance as his side made it six points on the road in the past week.
