Dover Athletic may well end up playing in an orange kit this season after a mix up with their kit suppliers.

Main Kit Supplier, Surridge Sports, discovered the problem on delivery of the new strip, which had been printed at a third party factory.

The third kit, which was intended to be gold is, actually, a bright fiery orange. In addition, the same error has resulted in the gold detail on the first choice kit being produced in the same vibrant orange colour.

The mistake was introduced just prior to manufacture, when a Pantone® number, one of the systems used for defining specific colours in the printing industry, was incorrectly entered by Surridge Sports staff.

Chairman Jim Parmenter has been in discussion with the supplier over the weekend and after consultation with the team management, back-room staff and players has decided to go ahead with the kit ‘as is’.

He said “The lead time on a replacement kit is over 10 weeks, this would have had a knock on effect for supporters wanting replicas, and so, we have decided to go ahead with the orange detail on the first choice kit and the third choice orange kit.

“Having shown the kits to the players on Saturday, they actually quite liked the orange.”

Whist this has been a blazing error, it won’t dampen the spirits in the Dover camp. Manager Nicky Forster said “The future is most certainly bright for Dover and now, thanks to this mix-up, it is also fiery Orange.”
