The sixth KSN day of Christmas with Paul Pigott
The sixth KSN day of Christmas with Paul Pigott

In the lead up to Christmas, KSN’s football editor Mike Green has been talking to some of the county’s bosses armed with a series of Festive Season based questions.

And so, on ”the sixth KSN day of Christmas”, after talking with the longest serving Ryman League boss yesterday, today it’s the time of the newest – Greenie’s been talking to Chatham Town’s Paul Pigott…

KSN – What’s you earliest Christmas memory?

PAUL PIGGOTT – watching the Gills on a Boxing Day a few times when I was a kid, always a great time.

KSN – And what’s your worst?

PP – when I was playing for Sittingbourne reserves, we had Thamesmead away Boxing Day for 11 oclock ko – didn’t love football that day! lol.

KSN – And your best?

PP – the final whistle on that game…….

KSN – What’s the best or worst football based present you’ve ever been given or received?

PP – at Blair we used to do a secret santa, and I got some hair dye from one of the lads…..wasn’t happy lol!

KSN – What d’you think of Christmas football?

PP – I wouldn’t change anything about Christmas football, I love every minute of it, but if I could I’d have my mum on a mute button, cause I’m fed up with her opinion on it.

KSN – If you were preparing a “Mid-term” School report on Chatham’s season so far, what grade would you give the side and why?

PP – that’s a difficult one because I’ve just come into the club, but it’ll always be a can do better whether that’s me or the players.

KSN – Who’s your team’s Player of 2016?

PP – again difficult in my short time at the club, but Mr Medley has been doing the business banging the net for me and plays with a smile on his face which is great.

KSN – Is there a player you’ve seen either live or on TV who’s really excited you in 2016?

PP – like Neil Cugley yesterday, it’s Coutinho of Liverpool. The bloke goes past players for fun and just doesn’t give the ball, always a pleasure to watch.

KSN – What do you hope your players have for Christmas dinner?

PP – they would start with a bowl of bran flakes with a glass of orange juice followed by a nice and easy 3 miles jog.

Then for lunch, chicken breast with pasta and maybe a slice of carrot cake because its Christmas with a quick hour in the gym and after a couple of hours kip, they could have some tea with the family after watching a video of our next opponents… if only…

KSN – What’s your hope for football in general in 2017?

PP – Chatham Town to stay in the league, as simple as that, which I’m sure with some hard graft will happen.

KSN – if your Chairman could buy you one player as a Christmas present who would it be and why?

PP – If the club was feeling they needed to treat their manager with a player for a Christmas present, Steve Gerrard would come in handy – the bloke’s a legend in my household and I’m sure he’d come and play lol.

KSN – Finally your Festive message for the Chatham  fans?

PP – Hope they have a good Christmas and a happier New Year. We will be doing our best to put a team out that they can be proud of and gives them a reason to want to keep coming back and maybe bring a friend.

Many thanks to Paul  for joining in our series and a very Merry Christmas to him and everyone at Chatham Town – join us again tomorrow for the final part of ”KSN days of Christmas!” as we stay in the Medway Towns – small clue there as to who Greenie might have been talking to…
