The Mead slipped put of the Kent Reliance Senior Cup at the Quarter Final stage as Ramsgate progressed by the odd goal in 5.

Kent Reliance Senior Cup

Ramsgate had a header from a corner cleared from the Mead line, and saw the Mead defence in resolute form.

The Mead were struggling to create clear chances, but took the lead in the 33rd minute. The ball was worked to Jay Porter and he whipped in a cross with Rob Carter met with a strong downward header into the corner of the net.

Unfortunately, the lead lasted only 2 minutes when Ramsgate were awarded a free kick level with the edge of the Mead box.

Stephen Butcher curled the free kick across the box and when everyone missed it, the ball bounced past Rob Budd in the Mead goal.

The Mead saw Tyrus Gordon-Young head a corner just wide and then Richard Butler had a chance but Ramsgate cleared. Butler then saw a header blocked from a corner and then headed over. The teams headed off for the half time break tied at 1-1.

Early in the 2nd half, the Mead defence held firm as Ramsgate had a few corners. Then a long ball saw the Mead get a free kick as Gordon-Young was hauled down. Ashley Probets sent the free kick over the bar.

Ramsgate then made a quick break from a Mead corner and a cross went right across the Mead six yard box. In the 60th minute, Ramsgate went ahead as Tom Chapman collected a through ball and shot past Rob Budd to make it 1-2.

Rob Budd then pushed a cross shot wide before the Mead pulled level in the 69th minute. A Probets free kick was cleared out to Jay Porter who lobbed the ball into the box and Tyrus Gordon-Young beat the Ramsgate keeper to the ball and rolled it into the net.

What proved to be the winning goal for Ramsgate came in the 75th minute. A slick passing move saw the ball end at the feet of Colin Justin and he shot past Budd into the corner of the net. 7

The Mead huffed and puffed for another equaliser and the closest they came was when George Brenner hooked just wide in the 90th minute.

But Ramsgate ran the time left out effectively and progressed to the semi-final stage of the competition.
