It was a baptism of fire for the young Welling United team when they visited Havant and Waterlooville for the season opener. Steve Lovell knew that it was going to be a tough game but he felt that his players didn’t do themselves justice.

Both Cray Valley (PM) and Welling United might have won the pre-season friendly at the Artic Stadium but the game ended in an entertaining draw. After the game, Welling manager Steve Lovell confirmed that the pre-season campaign was still a work in progress.
