Charlton Women 1-3 Gills Ladies

Gillingham Ladies secured another three valuable points to stay top of the FA Womens Southern Premier League as they defeated Charlton Athletic 3-1.

During 90 minutes of constant rain, Gillingham Ladies dealt well with the conditions to pull off another impressive display.

The Gills got off to a great start when Lisa Fulgence pounced on a loose ball in the six yard box to poke past the out-streched Addicks’ keeper following some great work down the right hand side by Nikita Whinnet.

The afternoon got better for Gills when the referee pointed to the spot after a mistimed tackle on Fliss Gibbons stunted the midfielder’s confident run on goal.

Danielle Carlton put Kent’s best ladies team three goals ahead with a left footed wonder strike from distance.

Charlton sought a way back into the game during the second half and clinched a consolation through Kris Manktelow. The Charlton attacker exploited a loose Gills pass to launch a long range strike which defeated Faye Baker to hit the roof of the net.

Gillingham Ladies finished deserving winners as they shined in South East London on a miserably wet afternoon.
