Successful weekend for Dixon
Successful weekend for Dixon

As weekends go Ryan Dixon had another cracking weekend at the latest No Limits Racing from at Cadwell Park, taking one win and two second places in his quest for the 2025 title.

It is going to go down to the wire with Max Lofthouse, with just the 17 points separating the duo with two weekends left of the No Limits Racing season. Ryan brings us right up to date with his race weekend.

Qualifying – same as always really. Got out mid pack, struggled to find a clear lap, got one in right at the end, a 1.30.7 which was enough for second and just 0.116 off of pole position, happy enough with that.

Race One – my lack of electronic aids again cost me off the start making what used to be a strong point for me into my weak link, dropping down to fourth by then one. Two quick passes made by the start of lap two saw me second again and I set about closing down the small gap Max had made. I made the pass on lap four and set about trying to get away. All seemed to go to plan and I managed to eke out a 1.7 second lap by the finish and took the win.

Race Two – another bad start and I was fifth into run one. Quickly got into fourth and then third but it took me a few laps to pass for second. By the time I got through, I had a 2.5 second gap to try and overhaul. I got my head down and put in a run of consistent, fast laps and closed onto the back of Max by lap ten. I briefly passed for the lead on lap 11 but a backmarker held me up quite badly allowing Max a run on me and he got back past only for a red flag to end the race early on the following lap. The result was declared as it was. If I had of negotiated the back marker better and led across the line on that lap, I would have got the win.

Race Three – slightly better start but still back to third at turn one, I made a pass early on for second and Max hadn’t really got away. Then I passed for the lead on lap two, tried to make the break but Max had the hooks in so with around four or five laps to go, I backed off a bit to try and conserve some energy ready for the battle on the final couple of laps which was clearly going to follow! Then, all hell broke loose, max passed me four times down the park straight, the first time he led for a few corners before I got back in front but the other times I went straight back on the brakes into park corner.

Starting the last lap, the plan was a clean lap and defend at the passing opportunities but then back markers struck. I held back slightly to try and get a run onto the back straight but didn’t leave enough space, my slight hesitation coupled with Max’s perfect run saw him past half way down the straight. I went to go past on the brakes but we were VERY rapidly closing in on the next two back markers and I pulled out thinking we may having a coming together! Then it was down to working out where I could potentially make the pass for the win. Mansfield was the first attempt but Max went in hot and I couldn’t get it done. Then into the bottom of the mountain as he got a bad run out of the chicane, I committed then realised I was about to hit max as he turned in so squeezed the lever a little harder and hoped not to crash, I didn’t but the time I lost trying to avoid max let him get a small gap. He ran wide into the penultimate corner and I closed in some of the gap but was too far back to pass. I was really frustrated as if I’d waited until then, I probably could have made it but I’d lost too much time! Anyway, it was second again sadly.

However, plenty of positives, a brilliant race to be a part of in race three. Two fastest race laps. Fastest lap of the weekend, with my new PB of 1.29.501, bettering my previous best by just shy of one second. An ideal lap of 1.29.284 and 23 race laps out of 32 faster than I’ve been round there before so consistently running times that would put me somewhere near the top 10 of BSB stock 1000 when you look at the race lap times from last year! Not bad on a four year old bike with no electronic aids.

Two rounds to go and we are separated by 17 points so still all to play for. Also, congrats to Max who certainly brought the fight, seems we’re both all in for the season run in. Thank you as always to all sponsors and supporters who have helped get to this point.
