Kent Cricket have announced that all-rounder Grant Stewart has been presented with Men’s Cap no. 224 during Lunch on Day One of Kent vs. Gloucestershire at the St Lawrence Ground, Canterbury.
He was awarded his County Cap by Kent Men’s Cap no. 184, former Club Captain, Dave Fulton.
Stewart signed his first professional contract for Kent in 2017 after impressing for the Club’s Second XI, and to-date has gone on to make over 200 appearances for the county, scoring over 3,500 runs and taking almost 250 wickets across all formats.
A Vitality T20 Blast winner in 2021 and One Day Cup winner in 2022, he was also a part of the Kent side that achieved promotion to Division One of the County Championship in 2018.
Stewart also holds several current Club records, including Kent’s first-class record for a seventh wicket partnership in first-class cricket, achieved with Chris Benjamin during his mammoth innings of 182 from only 189 deliveries against Gloucestershire in 2025, as well as the Club record seventh wicket partnership in List A cricket, hitting 91 alongside Charlie Stobo at Worcestershire in 2024.
He also holds the Kent record for most wickets in a T20 season, with 24 during the 2023 Vitality T20 Blast. He is currently the Club’s fifth-highest T20 wicket taker in history.
Other memorable moments in Stewart’s Kent career so far include hitting the final ball for six to secure Kent an unlikely victory over Yorkshire on their way to One Day Cup glory in 2022, his eight wickets and century from only 74 balls batting ‘at 10’ in a day/night Championship match against Middlesex in 2018, and securing a T20 hat-trick against the same opponents in 2023.
Qualifying through his maternal family side, the hard-hitting right-hander made his International debut for Italy in October 2021, and represented the Azzurri at the 2026 ICC Men’s T20 World Cup.
Stewart becomes only the 224th Capped Men’s Player in the Club’s history since 1870, an accolade awarded to Kent cricketers that have represented the county with distinction.
