Steele undecided over future
Steele undecided over future

Kent racer Aaron Steele is undecided as to where his future lies after an exciting past twelve months in motor racing.

The 23 year old from Rochester has had a fantastic past year, winning the F3 Cup, taking part in a Formula 2 test out in Barcelona and just last month he took part in the race of his life at the infamous Daytona Speedway in America.

With that success, Steele has seen certain doors open to him, but remains undecided as to where he will be racing this year:

“The last year has been great for me winning the F3 cup and winning fourteen out of the eighteen races was fantastic. Being out to Daytona has been a great experience as I hadn’t been used to driving on banking.”

“As for the next twelve months, my future is uncertain, it always has been and it always will be, but it is what you make it to be. We are trying to make something happen this year and we’ve got a few different options open to us at the moment.”

“Ideally I need to move away from the F3 Cup, but with that comes increased budgets and it is a significant bit more.”

“What I end up doing will depend upon how much money I can find. After winning the Sunoco Grand Am Challenge, it has really opened my eyes to racing in the United States.”

“It’s somewhere where I’d like to race as motor sport is very different out there. It’s the same sport as over here, but over there the fans have so much more access and you can’t describe it until you have experienced it yourself.”

At Daytona, fans have twenty minutes before the race in which to mingle with drivers, have their pictures taken with the cars and be part of the whole raceday experience and Steele feels that could be adopted more here in the UK:

“F1 could learn a lot from that, whilst Formula Renault and British F3 could do well to let fans be near the cars and drivers. If they did that, there would be a lot more support for drivers and motor sport.”
