Southern Counties East Football League Premier Division football returns to Eltham on Wednesday evening when Stansfeld host Holmesdale.

It has been a disappointing start for Stansfeld who are currently on the foot of the table with just three points from nine games however, they are still well in touch with the teams immediately above the bottom two. They did not have a game on Saturday. Their last match was a tight home game with league leaders Erith and Belvedere which they lost one-nil through a Tyller Davis-Whitlock goal with quarter of an hour remaining
Meanwhile, Holmesdale are in seventh place in a convoluted top half of the table. After the weekend they were just four points off the top with a game in hand but may feel that they dropped two points on Saturday. They entertained Punjab United and went one up through a Nathan Palmer goal just shy of the hour mark. They couldn’t hold on, though, and the visitors levelled through a Roman Campbell with eight minutes left on the clock.
This will not be the first meeting between the two clubs this season. They met at Holmesdale in August and the hosts enjoyed a convincing win. They were four up by half time with Alfie Clark, Lewis Heywood-Oriogun twice, and Nathaniel Murray on the score sheet.
Heywood-Oriogun completed his hat-trick just after the hour mark, and Clark added his second before Sam Plant scored a late brace for Stansfeld.
In the two meetings between the teams last season, Holmesdale came out on top. First, at Stansfeld, Aiden Ward and Oghosa Williams gave the visitors a two goal half time lead. Harrison English pulled one back on the hour mark but Mecca Samuels scored the goal that guaranteed the three points.
Then, in the return match, Chris Alhassan scored early to give Stansfeld a half time lead but Malachi Hudson scored twice after the break, the second from the penalty spot, and Holmesdale completed the double.
When they meet on Wednesday, Stansfeld will want to end the bad head to head run, while Holmesdale will be eager for the points that would elevate them into the play-off places.
