FA Cup football takes place in Eltham on Sunday when Stansfeld host Harrow Borough in the Extra Preliminary Round.

Billy Shinners’ team played their first Southern Counties East Football League Premier Division match of the season last Saturday, and fell to a home defeat against Snodland Town.

It remained goal-less until thirteen minutes from time when the visitors went ahead with a goal by Asanti Amoah. Shinners reacted by bringing on Sam Plant one minute later and it looked like an inspired substitution when he levelled after a further five minutes.

However, there was to be a sting in the tail when Harry Hudson won it for Snodland with just one minute remaining.

Plying their trade in the higher step of the Isthmian League South Central division, Harrow Borough are yet to start their 2025/26 campaign. Last season, they finished fourteenth in their league and will provide a stiff challenge for Stansfeld.

Despite that, the FA Cup regularly throws up surprise results and Shinners’ team will go in to the game knowing that they are very capable of recording one of the first upsets of the season in the world’s most famous domestic knock-out competition.
