There was no FA Cup upset when step five Stansfeld hosted step four Harrow Borough in the extra preliminary round.

Manager Billy Shinners would have been hoping that his Stansfeld team could keep it tight for the opening period but those aims were dashed when Gareth Chendlik scored in just the second minute, and he completed his quick-fire hat-trick with only twenty-two minutes on the board.

His first goal came from a low cross by Olumide Akinode that found him unmarked at the far post for a simple finish.  

After the hosts had a couple of half chances, Chendlik missed a good opportunity when shooting wide. However, he soon made amends. The visitors had more joy down the right hand side when Nawaf Millar found space to cross and Chendlik fired home from twelve yards out.

He completed his hat-trick midway through the first half when Jack Hutchinson burst through. Although he was stopped in his tracks, it broke loose to Chendlik and he made no mistake from inside the penalty area.

Oliver Andrews came close to pulling one back with a drive from the edge of the area that was turned away brilliantly by Tom Clark, and Dario Sesay-De Luca fired over before half time.

Now with the slope in their favour, Stansfeld started to probe and both Sesay-De Luca and Chris Alhassan failed to hit the target before Clark made a good low save from a Sesay-De Luca twenty yard drive.

That seemed to arouse Harrow and it was Cemal Osman’s turn to make a good save to deny Kristian Swaby.

As the clock started to run down, Harvey Mead surged on a sixty yard run through the middle and was halted by a crude challenge by Akinode, earning the assailant a yellow card. Billy Marsh’s free kick was accurate but Clark got across to make a diving save.

However, it was the visitors who had the final word with five minutes remaining when Swaby’s cross from the right found Lenny Farhall unmarked at the far post and he tucked it home with the minimum of fuss.
