Second placed Welling United visit sixth placed St Albans City in an Isthmian League Premier Division encounter on Saturday afternoon.

Although the Saints are ten points behind Ryan Maxwell’s side, they have played three games fewer and they also harbour promotion dreams. At home, the Wings have an immaculate record having won nine out of nine league games with seven clean sheets. However, away from home, their record is less impressive with two wins, both without conceding, and four defeats.
At home in the league, St Albans have only played five times with four victories and a defeat inflicted on them by Lewes. Their most recent outing was a Monday night match at Aveley where they lost one-nil to a goal early in the second period.
On the following evening, a youthful Wings side won at Cray Valley PM in the London Senior Cup. Their last full strength squad game was last Saturday when they defeated Carshalton Athletic four-nil. Lekan Majoyegbe and Sam Smith scored in the first half then Demaray Anyadike and Nahum Melvin-Lambert added the third and fourth goals in the second period.
When St Albans hosted Welling in October 2025, the Saints claimed all three points. Leo Sery put them ahead five minutes before half time but Eze Ebozoeme levelled eleven minutes after the restart. Two minutes later the hosts regained their lead when Michael Bostwick scored and that’s how it finished. The last time that Welling were victorious at St Albans was one year earlier when Anointed Chukwu scored the only goal in the fifteenth minute.
After missing two matches, Nathan Cooper returned for the county cup match and will be back in contention for Maxwell’s starting eleven at Clarence Park in a match that will test both clubs’ credentials.
