Solihull Moors 0-1 Bromley

Bromley inflicted Solihull Moors’ first home defeat of the season with a superb away performance, grabbing a goal late in the first half and defending resiliently in the second period.

The game got off to a cautious start before Luke Coulson just off target for The Ravens, while Solihull had two efforts saved from Joe Sbara and Adam Rooney by Mark Cousins.

As the game opened up Joe Kizzi played in Michael Cheek whose low drive was saved at his near post by Ryan Boot.

Bromley continued to look dangerous on the break with Chris Bush setting up Reeco Hackett who saw his powerful low drive well saved by Boot. Soon after Billy Bingham played in Ben Williamson, but he was denied by a superb saving tackle from Tyrone Williams.

Williamson had another shot saved before the home side suffered a blow when Rooney had to go off injured.

Then in first half injury time Neil Smith’s side got the break through, when Liam Trotter played in Bush down the left and he crossed for Cheek who timed his run to perfection to turn the ball home for 1-0 to The Ravens.

The second half saw Bromley start well playing with intensity and Resilience all over the pitch. Krystian Pearce was booked for a foul on Cheek as he broke upfield and Kyle Storer was also cautioned for an equally poor foul on Hackett.

Solihull manager Jamie Shane rang the changes from there and the introduction of Jamie Ward gave the home side more going forward. Ward had a deflected shot well saved by Cousins and as Bromley sat back, Moors had more and more possession, but struggled to create any good chances.

Bromley still posed a threat on the break with Kizzi and Hackett combing well up the right to win a corner, which Hackett almost scored with when his in swinging delivery was palmed away at his near post by Boot.

With the game stretched, Cameron Archer had a sliding effort saved as he connected with a deep cross for the home side while for the visitors Kizzi sent in a low cross for James Alabi who was denied by Boot.

Then late on with Solihull pressing and Bromley struggling to get the ball clear, a free kick was awarded on the edge of the box for a A very soft looking handball by Byron Webster.

Ward’s driven strike deflected off his own team mate Jamey Osborne and went out for a goal kick, which summed up their night and The Ravens held on for the win.

The win takes Bromley up to third in the National League table ahead of a much needed week off before they begin their FATrophy campaign at home next Saturday.
