Solid start to season for Conway

Mike Conway had a solid weekend at the Rolex 24 at Daytona last weekend, coming home in fourth place.

It got Conway’s 2022 campaign off to a solid start as he started the race from seventh on the grid in the number 31 Whelan Engineering machine, along with team mates Pipo Derani and Tristan Nunez.

They were locked in a battle for victory from the off and Conway was in the lead of the race going into the final five hours of the race.

However, with the race entering the last half an hour, Conway and his team mates were siting in third position and in a prime position for the spring finish to the flag.

Eventually they were to finish in fourth place when the chequered flag fell, and they were just 5.615 seconds behind the race winners.

The IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship resumes on March 19h for the 12 hours of Sebring.

Speaking after the weekend, Conway said: “”It was a great effort by the Action Express team. We had really good pace all race. Then, we kind of fell a bit short. Credit to everyone on the Whelen Engineering Cadillac team for their hard work over the last two weeks.

“We were hoping for at least a podium, but it wasn’t to be. It was a really fun race however, with lots of battles on track and a very exciting finish.”
