Solid start for Nixon

Kent’s Jack Nixon kicked off his Pirelli National Superstock championship season with a brace of top ten finishes.

In what is his rookie season in the National Superstock championship Nixon finished the weekend as top rookie.

It is a voyage into the unknown for Nixon, but with a fifth place in race one and a sixth place in race two, he has proved that he is more than capable of challenging for podium places on his BMW M 1000 RR on a regular basis.

In such a competitive class it is a testament to Jack’s talent that he qualified tenth and moved up five places during race one.

Speaking after the weekend, Nixon said: “We didn’t know what to expect coming into this race, so for us to come away with a fifth and sixth is really good. I’ve been top rookie all weekend too, so I’m really happy about that.

“We seem to be working really well as a team as well which is great and will stand us in good stead moving through the season.

“I’d like to think it’s been a good transition to the bigger bike. To be honest, I think I’ve adapted quite well and I’m really happy. The team has helped me quite a lot as well so it’s all looking fairly good moving forward. I’m joint fourth in the championship so I can’t be too upset with that!”
